THE REFERENCE

Identify the scale before counting lines

Check that the syringe is labelled U-100. Then identify its capacity and the value of each small division. A smaller barrel does not automatically mean a different unit scale. The illustration above changes its graduations when you choose the actual marked division.

Count intervals, not printed numbers

If the labelled numbers are 10 and 20 and there are five equal intervals between them, each interval represents 2 units. If there are ten equal intervals, each represents 1 unit. Do not assume that every short line represents one unit.

Use the correct plunger edge

The illustration identifies the leading plunger edge nearest the needle. Match your reading to the manufacturer’s instructions for the actual syringe, and ask a pharmacist to demonstrate if the edge or line spacing is unclear. The illustration is a reference, not a physical calibration tool.

An amount between lines needs a check

The calculator shows both calculated markings and the nearest marked line. The percentage difference describes how much rounding changes the entered amount. It is not a recommended adjustment. A reading below one graduation or above capacity needs professional measurement guidance.
