ABOUT THE TOOL

Understand the calculation. Respect its limits.

This is an independent unit-conversion tool for the volume markings on U-100 syringes. It does not prescribe or recommend treatment.

What it calculates

Given the total mass in a vial, its confirmed final solution volume, and an amount you enter, it calculates the corresponding volume and U-100 markings. It also supports reverse conversion and a simple mL-to-markings conversion.

What it does not determine

The calculator cannot decide a dose, select a medicine, recommend a mixing liquid or volume, assess clinical suitability, choose injection equipment, or establish storage and handling instructions. It does not calculate insulin doses or convert biological international units into mass.

How the arithmetic is checked

Inputs are parsed into integer micrograms and microlitres. Calculations use exact integer fractions. Automated known-answer and generated tests check the conversion engine, and the calculation steps expose the arithmetic. Decimal displays are rounded for readability. Testing the software is not clinical validation.

Rounding and the illustration

The nearest marked line is a mathematical comparison. Even a small rounding difference is not permission to alter a prescribed amount. No diagram can verify the markings on your actual syringe. The SVG is illustrative and has not been validated against your physical device; use the manufacturer’s instructions and ask a pharmacist to demonstrate the correct reading.

Check before relying on a result

Confirm the total vial mass, final solution volume, desired amount and actual U-100 graduations. Do not enter a concentration labelled mg/mL as though it were the total vial mass. If you are unsure about a label, an input or a result, ask the dispensing pharmacist or prescriber before proceeding.

Sources and corrections

Reference pages link to the source material supporting their explanations. Source links do not imply endorsement. If you notice a discrepancy, stop using that calculation and have the numbers independently checked with your pharmacist or prescriber.
