TRANSPARENT BY DESIGN

Every result should be explainable.

This calculator connects your known mass, concentration and volume to U-100 syringe markings. It does not choose a dose or preparation.

The formulas

Concentration = total mass ÷ final volume

Or enter the concentration printed as mg/mL on your label.

Volume = entered mass ÷ concentrationU-100 markings = volume in mL × 100

The reverse conversion is markings ÷ 100 × concentration in mg/mL. These formulas describe the U-100 volume scale and do not convert biological IU.

Volume conversions in both directions

For U-100 markings, mL × 100 gives marked units and marked units ÷ 100 gives mL. Neither direction requires a concentration. Capacity and graduation comparisons still use exact integer arithmetic. This explanation was updated 17 October 2026.

Exact arithmetic, readable displays

The engine parses decimal strings into integer micrograms and microlitres, then uses integer fractions for calculation and comparisons. Labelled mg/mL is parsed exactly to micrograms per mL. The interface rounds decimal displays for readability and also exposes the exact fraction.

Supported input precision is 0.001 mg, 1 mcg, 0.001 mL, 0.001 mg/mL and 0.01 syringe units. Invalid, zero, negative or over-precision values are rejected rather than silently rounded.

Marked lines and warnings

The nearest line is calculated from the division you select; an exact halfway result rounds upward for this comparison. A difference greater than 5% triggers an additional warning. That threshold is a software warning rule, not a clinically acceptable tolerance.

Results below one division or above barrel capacity are flagged. A zero nearest mark or an over-capacity result has no draw illustration. With total-vial inputs, the engine also checks the requested mass against the vial contents. With concentration alone, vial contents and the number of amounts remaining are unknown and are not inferred.

What we test

Automated known-answer fixtures, generated arithmetic checks and boundary tests exercise the independent conversion engine. The test configuration requires 100% coverage for each engine file. Browser checks cover the form, syringe pointer, storage, sharing, offline use, printing and accessibility. These checks validate software behaviour, not treatment safety or your physical device.
